A second optional parameter can be used to pass the name of a configuration file. This file must be located in ~/etc e.g. ~/etc/params_Hawaii.cfg . If no optional parameter is supplied, the configuration is read from ~/etc/params.cfg .
This program is similar to Plott_WERA_Sort_RCs_Gain, except that beams are formed from the linear array. The beam can be steered to +/- 60 degrees.
Plott_WERA_Sort_RCs_Beam reads all information needed on number of channels, length of timeseries, etc. from the header (first 512 bytes of data file) and the following parameters for PARAM_UV.CFG (VMS) or /home/wera/etc/params.cfg (Linux):
Values in PARAM_UV.CFG or /home/wera/etc/params.cfg:
AUTO_SCALE = .TRUE. !.true. = use auto scale
C Name of WERA Gain File
C
GAIN_NAME = '/home/wera/etc/wera_gain.dat'
!The following 7 parameters allow simultaneous use of a linear and
!a square array within the same WERA system. They provide a mapping
!of receiver channels to antenna numbers. A value of '0' indicates that
!this antenna configuration does not exist in the actual WERA system.
!
ARR1_001 = 1 !First antenna# in linear array
ARR2_001 = 16 !Last antenna# in linear array
ARRD_001 = 9.35 !Distance between elements [meters]
!Name of file for FullCalibration
FCAL_001 = '/home/wera/etc/LaRevellata.fullcal'
!Name of file for linear array spacing
DIST_001 = 'antdist_LaRevellata.asc'

The following box shows a typical output generated by Plott_WERA_Sort_RCs_Beam:
wera@ifmpc205:~/Fortran> Plott_WERA_Sort_RCs_Beam ~/data/examples/20041230320_lar.sort params_corsica.cfg Plott_WERA_Sort_RCs_Beam V1.3.3 Linux: *** Reading configuration from /home/wera/etc/params_corsica.cfg Processing file: /home/wera/data/examples/20041230320_lar.sort Frequency = 12.4770002 MHz NSER = 2048 Samples T_chirp = 0.260000 s F_bragg = 0.360374 Hz Last RC = 114 range cells RANGEresol = 1.5000 km RAN_OFF = 0.5000 RC TRUE_NORTH = 55 degrees Linear array: Antennas 1 to 16 *** FullCalib does not exist ....: LaRevellata.fullcal *** Reading WERA_Gain ...........: /home/wera/etc/wera_gain.dat *** Calculating S/N of each antenna. *** Normalizing antenna gains. The output of the program gives information on:
Frequency : WERA center operating frequency NSER : Number of samples T_chirp : Duration of a chirp -> sample rate F_bragg : Bragg frequency Last RC : Last range cell number RANGEresol : Range resolution RAN_OFF : Range cell offset to compensate for cable length TRUE_NORTH : Geographical direction of the linear array |
Graphics can be generated for each beam direction.
The dynamic range shown in the figure has a fixed reference point: The ADC's maximum input voltage of +/-10 Volts * Gain Ramp refers to 0 dB.
