WERA HF Radar Software - CL7 Program Update Documentation
If you have a running VxWorks on your CL7, skip the following step:
- Install VxWorks initial files to the CL7's internal flashdisk
[CL7::C:\] and make it bootable as described
here.
After you have a working VxWorks, apply the update as follows:
- On a Linux workstation create one 3 1/2 inch floppy: $ dd if=CL7upd_dd-mmm-yyyy.dsk of=/dev/fd0
- Insert the floppy created from CL7upd.dsk and boot the CL7.
- Wait until the archive is unpacked to CL7::C:\
- Reboot the CL7.
Note:
The recent version of WERACNT.O implements the permanent mode measurements. It also contains a mechanism to
check if the NFS mount of the target direcories on the Linux workstation is still available. This is done
by checking the existance of the file /home/wera/etc/DoNotBoot.wera which must contain the text "PLEASE DO NOT BOOT".
If this file cannot be read by weracnt, the CL7 is automatically rebootet, as something is totally out of order and
data acquired cannot be stored to disk. Renaming the file /home/wera/etc/DoNotBoot.wera can also be used to force
the CL7 to reboot in case a reboot is required and a login to the CL7 is not possible.
Older updates needed DOS to be booted and were applied as follows (instructions kept for reference):
- Prepare a DOS floppy containing CL7upd.exe .
- Insert a DOS bootable floppy into the CL7's drive.
- Boot DOS.
- Insert the DOS floppy containing CL7upd.exe .
- Enter C:
- Enter A:\CL7upd
- Wait until the archive is unpacked to CL7::C:\
- Reboot the CL7.
The update adds / modifies the following files at CL7::C:
