WERA HF Radar Software - Measurement Grid

Make_Grid

Call: Make_Grid [Params*.cfg]

An optional parameter can be used to pass the name of a configuration file. This file must be located in ~/etc e.g. ~/etc/params_Hawaii.cfg . If no optional parameter is supplied, the configuration is read from ~/etc/params.cfg .

Reads configuration from PARAM_UV.CFG (VMS) or /home/wera/etc/params.cfg (Linux) and generates the grid coordinates used to calculate radial components and 2-dim currents at.

Values used from /home/wera/etc/params.cfg:

C Name and size (NX, NY) of Grid File
C
C       Valudes used to generate Gijon_grid_60_60.asc :
C       Spacing [km] 1.0
C       Upper left corner: LAT 44 5.8  LON -5 -52.0
C
        NX              = 60
        NY              = 60
        GRID_NAME       = '/home/wera/etc/gijon_grid_60_60.asc'

        WATT = .FALSE. !.true. = read Watt file
	WATT_NAME	= '/home/wera/etc/gijon_watt_60_60.asc'

WATT_NAME can be used to force the current speed at selected grid points to ZERO. This is especially usefull, when interpolation / extrapolation near to wadden areas is enabled. The logical WATT can be used to enable WATT_NAME to be processed by rad2uv / rad5uv. Make_Grid can be used to generate a file containing all grid points in the required format. Delete all lines (grid points) in this file which you do not want to be forced to ZERO current velocity. WATT_NAME is used by rad2uv / rad5uv (the program to combine radial components) and by Plott_UV (the plott program) to suppress grid points on land, e.g. measurement grid and GDOP.

Linux:

Source is in Make_Grid.F
Compilation and linking with '. do_make_grid.sh'
Call with
> Make_Grid [Params*.cfg]

VMS:

Source is in Make_Grid.F
Compilation and linking with '@Make_Grid'
Program needs to be defined as an external command to take parameters
from the command line, e.g.
$ Make_Grid :== $$USER1:[WERA.Fortran]Make_Grid.exe

Call with
$ Make_Grid [Param_uv*.cfg]
